The hermaphrodite, the ideal of lost unity, questions the boundaries between the masculine and the feminine, the norm and the monstrous, the myth and the reality, between ancient heritage and modernity.
The Hermaphrodite is depicted lasciviously as the ancient Hellenistic marble work presented at the Louvre in Paris discovered near the Baths of Diocletian in Rome in 1608.
